Security Considerations in Rochester
Eastview Mall sits well outside the city and draws shoppers from the Finger Lakes as well as Rochester proper. Its higher-end tenants need officers who can cover long store hours, watch fitting rooms and stockrooms, and work alongside mall management on holiday crowd control. Because the major centers are miles apart, each site is best served by its own dedicated team.
Rochester’s colleges and hospitals bring a steady flow of students, patients and visitors into nearby retail corridors such as Park Avenue and the East End. Businesses near these campuses often want a visible officer during evening hours and around semester start dates, when foot traffic, late-night dining and package deliveries all rise sharply in the same few weeks.
Long winters affect both staffing and site conditions in the Rochester area. Officers need to monitor entrances and walkways for hazards, report lighting outages in parking areas promptly, and keep to opening and closing routines even when stores run with fewer employees on snowy days. Reliable relief from officers who live nearby keeps posts covered when roads are slow.

Common Questions
Are armed officers available in Rochester?
Armed posts are available where the jurisdiction permits. They are staffed by retired law enforcement officers who hold the required armed licensing, and are assigned after a review of the site’s risk, lease and insurance requirements. For luxury boutiques, MGP generally recommends unarmed officers focused on deterrence and client service.
How is security guard coverage priced?
Rates depend on the officer classification, hours, schedule and site requirements. MGP provides a written rate schedule after reviewing your needs. Holiday, overnight and short-notice coverage is billed at a premium rate.
