Managed security services
Managed security services in Namibia
Business and retail activity in Namibia is centred on Windhoek, along Independence Avenue in the CBD, in Klein Windhoek and at shopping centres such as Maerua Mall, Wernhil Park and the Grove Mall of Namibia. On the coast, Swakopmund is the main tourism and retail town and Walvis Bay is the country’s principal port and logistics hub.
Security considerations in Namibia
Programs in Namibia often combine offices and retail in Windhoek with sites in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay or the northern towns, and the distances between them are long. A managed program applies the same Post Orders, supervision and reporting format at every site, with supervisors based in or travelling to each area. English is the official business language, and Afrikaans, Oshiwambo and German are widely spoken.
Tourism is busiest in the dry season from about June to October and over the December holidays, when the coast receives many domestic visitors. Coverage plans should include relief officers, seasonal reinforcement for coastal sites, procedures for heat at outdoor posts and coordination with shopping centre and building security.
