Managed security services
Managed security services in Jersey and Guernsey
Retail in Jersey is centred on King Street and Queen Street in St Helier, and in Guernsey on the High Street and the Pollet in St Peter Port. Banks, trust companies and law firms have their offices on the Esplanade and the International Finance Centre in St Helier and around Les Banques and the seafront in St Peter Port.
Security considerations in the Channel Islands
Client sites in the Channel Islands are usually shops in the town centres of St Helier and St Peter Port, office receptions in finance sector buildings, and hotels and residential developments along the coast. Jersey and Guernsey are separate jurisdictions with their own laws, so a program covering both islands needs separate arrangements for each. A managed program applies the same Post Orders, supervision and reporting format at every site. English is the working language. Portuguese and Polish are widely spoken in the local workforce, and French is useful for visitors arriving from Saint Malo.
Visitor numbers rise from spring to autumn, with ferry traffic from Poole, Portsmouth and Saint Malo and events such as the Battle of Flowers in Jersey in August. Travel between the islands depends on ferries and short flights, so each island needs its own supervision and relief officers. Coverage plans should include relief officers, seasonal reinforcement and procedures for weather delays that affect inter island travel.

Frequently asked questions
Does MGP hold its own security licence in Jersey or Guernsey?
No. MGP does not hold its own security licence or registration in Jersey or Guernsey. Officers are employed by vetted security companies that hold what is required on each island, and MGP manages the program, its standards and its reporting.
What languages do officers speak?
Officers work in English. Where a site needs Portuguese, Polish or French, such as shops and hotels that serve visitors from France, officers with those languages are assigned and the requirement is written into the Post Orders.
