  • Every classification is held to the same standards of conduct, appearance and reporting, with licensing and credentials verified before deployment.
  • Officers summon law enforcement rather than intervene physically, except where both the law and the Post Orders for that assignment authorize otherwise.
  • Tier IV availability varies by jurisdiction, since some agencies do not permit off-duty work through a private firm.

Choosing the Right Tier

Most retail entrance and access posts fit Tier I. Selling floors, loss prevention support, corporate lobbies and concierge posts usually call for Tier II. Tier III retired officers are assigned to executive protection support and high-value asset protection. Tier IV off-duty officers cover critical incident response and dignitary and VIP protection where the local agency permits.

For luxury boutiques, MGP generally recommends unarmed officers focused on deterrence and client service. Armed posts are assigned only after a review of the site’s risk, lease and insurance requirements.
