Security Considerations in Denver

Cherry Creek combines an enclosed luxury mall with Cherry Creek North, an open street grid of boutiques, galleries, hotels and restaurants. Stores in the mall coordinate with center security, while street-front stores need officers who watch their own entrances and sidewalks directly. Many luxury brands operate in both settings, and post orders should reflect those differences rather than use a single approach.

Downtown Denver and the Denver Tech Center hold a large share of the region’s Class A office space. These buildings need lobby access control, visitor management, garage patrols and support for tenant events. Downtown also has a sizable residential tower population and a busy sports and concert calendar near Union Station and Ball Arena, which affects pedestrian traffic and building access on event nights.

Winter storms can arrive quickly along the Front Range, closing roads and delaying shift changes. Providers need standby officers and clear procedures for holding posts when relief is delayed. Many Denver clients also operate stores in the mountain resort towns, and coordinating coverage between the city and those seasonal locations requires planning for travel time, mountain pass conditions and lodging for officers.

Security Services in Denver

Screening, Training and Supervision

Officers complete a five-stage screening process and tier-based training before assignment, including de-escalation and, for retail posts, organized retail crime recognition. Supervisors make unannounced site visits, and the MGP Operations Desk answers 24/7/365. Incidents are documented on scene, time-stamped and GPS-verified.

Colorado Licensing

In Colorado, McCray Global Protection operates under the MGP Hybrid Operating Model. Officers are supplied by vetted local partners who hold the licenses required by the state and local jurisdiction, and MGP manages the program: screening and training standards, supervision, Post Orders, reporting and account management.

Common Questions

Are armed officers available in Denver?

Armed posts are available where the jurisdiction permits. They are staffed by retired law enforcement officers who hold the required armed licensing, and are assigned after a review of the site’s risk, lease and insurance requirements. For luxury boutiques, MGP generally recommends unarmed officers focused on deterrence and client service.

How is security guard coverage priced?

Rates depend on the officer classification, hours, schedule and site requirements. MGP provides a written rate schedule after reviewing your needs. Holiday, overnight and short-notice coverage is billed at a premium rate.
