Security Considerations in Memphis
Logistics drives much of the demand for security in Memphis. Distribution centers near the airport and along the interstates operate around the clock and move high volumes of goods. These clients need gate and dock officers, trailer and seal checks, visitor control and overnight patrol of large yards, with accurate logs at every shift change.
Retail in the metro area is spread between open-air centers in Germantown, a regional mall in Cordova and neighborhood districts in Midtown. Stores need officers who can work outdoor storefronts and parking areas as well as interior posts, and who understand how shopping patterns differ between suburban centers and city neighborhoods.
Downtown hosts concerts, sporting events, festivals and visitors to Beale Street throughout the year. Hotels, venues and nearby businesses need added staffing on event nights, crowd management at entries and coordination with venue operators. Summer heat and severe spring storms also affect outdoor posts and require plans for officer safety.

Common Questions
Are armed officers available in Memphis?
Armed posts are available where the jurisdiction permits. They are staffed by retired law enforcement officers who hold the required armed licensing, and are assigned after a review of the site’s risk, lease and insurance requirements. For luxury boutiques, MGP generally recommends unarmed officers focused on deterrence and client service.
How is security guard coverage priced?
Rates depend on the officer classification, hours, schedule and site requirements. MGP provides a written rate schedule after reviewing your needs. Holiday, overnight and short-notice coverage is billed at a premium rate.
