Managed security services
Managed security services in Fiji
Fiji’s main commercial centre is Suva, where retail, banking and government offices sit around Victoria Parade, Thomson Street and the city’s shopping centres. On the western side of Viti Levu, Nadi International Airport, Port Denarau and the Denarau Island resorts anchor the tourism economy, with further hotels along the Coral Coast and in the Mamanuca Islands.
Security considerations in Fiji
Most programs in Fiji are split between Suva, with its offices, banks and retail, and the western tourism corridor of Nadi, Denarau and Lautoka, which is about three to four hours away by road. Supervision has to be planned for both ends of Viti Levu, and for outer island resorts that are reached by boat or light aircraft. English is the language of business, and officers commonly also speak iTaukei or Fiji Hindi, which helps with staff and customer communication.
Visitor numbers are highest in the drier months from May to October and over the December holidays. The cyclone season runs from November to April, so coverage plans should include storm preparation, procedures for closing and reopening sites, and relief officers who can be moved between locations. A managed program applies the same Post Orders, supervision and reporting format at every site.
