Managed security services
Managed security services in Ghana
In Accra, corporate offices, hotels and international businesses are concentrated in Airport City, Ridge and Cantonments, while retail is anchored by Accra Mall, West Hills Mall, Achimota Retail Centre and Oxford Street in Osu. Kumasi, the second commercial centre, is served by Kumasi City Mall, and Tema hosts the country’s main port and industrial area.
Security considerations in Ghana
A programme in Ghana usually covers offices in Airport City and Ridge, stores in the main Accra malls and along Oxford Street, residences in Cantonments and East Legon, and sites in Kumasi or Tema. A managed programme applies the same post orders, supervision and reporting format at every site. English is the language of business, and Twi and Ga are widely spoken in Accra, which helps officers serve customers and work with building staff.
Footfall and event activity rise in December, when many visitors from abroad return for the holiday season, and around national holidays. Traffic in Accra affects shift changes and supervisor visits, so coverage plans need realistic travel times, relief officers and seasonal reinforcement. Plans should also set out procedures for outdoor posts in the heat and rainy seasons and coordination with mall and building management.
