Managed security services
Managed security services in Uganda
Business activity in Kampala is centred on Nakasero and the Central Business District, with embassies, offices and residences in Kololo, Naguru and Bugolobi. Premium retail and dining are located around Acacia Mall in Kisementi, Garden City, Lugogo Mall and Village Mall in Bugolobi, while Entebbe hosts the international airport and lakeside hotels.
Security considerations in Uganda
A program in Uganda usually covers offices and bank branches in central Kampala, retail units in managed malls, and sometimes residences, hotels or project sites outside the capital. Many malls and office buildings in Kampala screen vehicles and visitors at the gate, so tenant officers need post orders that set out how they work with building security. English is the language of business, and Luganda is widely spoken in Kampala and the central region.
Traffic and the hilly layout of Kampala lengthen travel time between sites, which affects shift changes and supervisor visits. Conferences and tourism bring visitors to Kampala and Entebbe throughout the year, and the two rainy seasons, roughly March to May and September to November, affect outdoor posts. Coverage plans should include relief officers, reinforcement for event periods, and agreed procedures for gate control, after-hours alarms and coordination with building management.

No. MGP does not hold a private security licence in Uganda. Officers are employed by vetted Ugandan security companies that hold the required licences, and MGP manages the program, its standards and its reporting.
What languages do the officers speak?
Officers speak English, and most also speak Luganda or another Ugandan language. The language requirement for each post is set out in the post orders for that site.
