Security Officer Requirements in Virginia
- Virginia security officers are registered by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). An unarmed security officer registration requires 18 hours of entry level training (course 01E) and 4 hours of in-service training to renew. Source
- Armed security officers in Virginia need 50 hours of entry level training: 18 hours of core subjects, 8 hours of arrest authority and 24 hours of handgun training, plus 3 hours of shotgun training if applicable. Source
