Special Event Security

Officers for store openings, trunk shows, private client events, product launches, trade shows and seasonal events.

Security for Retail and Brand Events

Event security covers a set period when a location sees more people, more merchandise on display or guests who expect discretion. MGP staffs events for retailers and brands. Coverage can be added to an existing daily program or booked on its own. Buyers are usually store operations, events and asset protection teams.

Events We Cover

  • Store openings and reopenings
  • Trunk shows
  • Private client events
  • Product launches
  • Trade shows
  • Seasonal events and holiday periods

What Officers Do on a Normal Shift

  • Arrive before doors open and attend the event briefing
  • Hold the entrance and check guests against the list the client provides
  • Watch merchandise on display as the Post Orders direct
  • Keep exits and paths of travel clear
  • Greet and direct guests, so security supports the experience
  • Respond to medical emergencies, disputes and alarms, and escalate early
  • Document incidents on scene

On boutique and flagship floors, officers wear business attire. Uniforms are used only where a visible presence is wanted.

How Post Orders Are Set Up

Post Orders are written for each location around its layout, hours and risk. For an event, they also cover the run of show, guest entry, display areas, the client contact on site and the steps for a medical call or evacuation. Officers review the Post Orders and complete assignment-specific training before taking post.

Supervision, Reporting and Escalation

Event coverage is supervised and reported in the same format as a daily post.

  • The Operations Desk answers 24/7/365, and calls reach a live person in English or Spanish.
  • Every shift starts with a GPS-confirmed clock-in.
  • Incidents are documented on scene, time-stamped and GPS-verified, with photographs.
  • Supervisors make unannounced site visits to check presentation and adherence to Post Orders.
  • Coverage and incidents are reviewed with the client in a Monthly Operational Review and a Quarterly Business Review.

Officer Classification

MGP staffs posts by tier under the Officer Classification Program. Tier I officers typically cover entrances and guest check-in. Tier II officers, who add active shooter and de-escalation training, fit sales floors and private client events. Tier III officers may be assigned for executive protection support or high-value asset protection. Armed posts are filled only with Tier III retired law enforcement officers or Tier IV off-duty officers where permitted. Tier assignments are confirmed in the Statement of Work.

Limitations and Dependencies

  • Officers summon law enforcement rather than intervene physically, except where both the law and the Post Orders for that assignment authorize otherwise.
  • Staffing levels are set in the Statement of Work based on the venue, schedule and expected attendance.
  • Venues may set their own security rules, and the Post Orders must follow them.
  • Coverage requested less than 24 hours in advance is billed at a premium rate.
  • Tier IV availability varies by jurisdiction, since some agencies do not permit off-duty work through a private firm.

Availability

MGP provides coverage in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, with operations in Canada, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, Ireland, continental Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Every market runs on the MGP hybrid delivery model: MGP-employed officers where the firm has an internal presence and vetted local affiliate partners elsewhere, held to the same screening, training, insurance and reporting standards. The service implementation plan for each site is agreed before work begins. See Service Areas for current markets.
