Emergency and Short-Notice Security

Short-term officer coverage when a site is exposed or a scheduled post goes unfilled, subject to staffing, licensing and travel in each market.

What Short-Notice Security Is and Who Uses It

Short-notice security covers a gap that was not planned. A storefront may be damaged, an alarm may be down or a regular provider may not show. MGP offers mobile patrol, special event coverage and short-term assignments for these situations. Buyers are usually operations, facilities and asset protection leaders who need a site covered until the problem is fixed.

Situations We Cover

  • After a break-in or damage to doors, glass or locks
  • When an alarm or camera system is down
  • When a regular security provider does not show
  • During nearby protests or other disruptions
  • While a location is closed for repairs
  • Short-term coverage before a scheduled program starts

What Officers Do on a Normal Shift

  • Hold the post defined by the client and the Operations Desk
  • Photograph and document site conditions on arrival
  • Control who enters the site
  • Patrol the property, or make mobile patrol checks at set times
  • Report changes in conditions to the client contact
  • Remain on post until the assignment ends or the client releases it

How to Request Coverage

Call the Operations Desk and describe the situation, the address and how long you expect to need coverage. The person answering can assign coverage. Open shifts are filled from the roster already serving that market, and MGP will tell you what it can staff before the assignment is confirmed.

How Post Orders Are Set Up

Post Orders are written for each location around its layout, hours and risk. For a short-notice assignment, they are set from the address, hours, known hazards and client contact confirmed on the call. If the need continues, the assignment can move into a scheduled program with full Post Orders and a Statement of Work.

Supervision, Reporting and Escalation

Short-notice posts are supervised and reported in the same way as scheduled coverage.

  • The Operations Desk answers 24/7/365, and calls reach a live person in English or Spanish.
  • Every shift starts with a GPS-confirmed clock-in.
  • Incidents are documented on scene, time-stamped and GPS-verified, with photographs.
  • Supervisors make unannounced site visits to check presentation and adherence to Post Orders.
  • Coverage and incidents are reviewed with the client in a Monthly Operational Review and a Quarterly Business Review.

Officer Classification

MGP staffs posts by tier under the Officer Classification Program. Short-notice site security and patrol posts typically fit Tier I. Tier II officers fit store floors, corporate and concierge posts. Armed posts are filled only with Tier III retired law enforcement officers or Tier IV off-duty officers where permitted. Tier assignments are confirmed in the Statement of Work.

Limitations and Dependencies

  • Availability depends on jurisdiction, staffing, licensing, travel and scope. MGP confirms these points before it commits to an assignment.
  • Short-notice coverage requested less than 24 hours in advance is billed at a premium rate.
  • Officers summon law enforcement rather than intervene physically, except where both the law and the Post Orders for that assignment authorize otherwise.
  • Tier IV availability varies by jurisdiction, since some agencies do not permit off-duty work through a private firm.

Availability

MGP provides coverage in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, with operations in Canada, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, Ireland, continental Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Every market runs on the MGP hybrid delivery model: MGP-employed officers where the firm has an internal presence and vetted local affiliate partners elsewhere, held to the same screening, training, insurance and reporting standards. The service implementation plan for each site is agreed before work begins. See Service Areas for current markets.
