Security Services in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico’s retail activity is centered in the San Juan metro area, with regional shopping centers in Bayamón, Carolina, Caguas, Ponce and Mayagüez and resort retail in communities such as Dorado. The island’s economy draws on tourism, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing, financial services and government.

Security Considerations in Puerto Rico

Spanish is the primary language across the island, and English is widely used in tourism and business. Clients need bilingual officers who can serve customers, write clear reports and work with local authorities and property management in either language. Officers also need to understand local business customs and expectations for courteous service.

Hurricane season is the most important planning factor for every site in Puerto Rico. Storms can interrupt power, roads and communications for long periods. Businesses need a provider that prepares sites ahead of a storm, keeps officers at closed properties when safe and supports recovery. Manufacturing sites also require strict access control and visitor procedures.

Services Available

Services in Puerto Rico include luxury retail asset protection, retail security officers, concierge and lobby security, commercial building security, special event security, executive protection support and fire watch. Post Orders are written for each location around its layout, hours and risk.

Screening, Training and Supervision

Officers complete a five-stage screening process and tier-based training before assignment, including de-escalation and, for retail posts, organized retail crime recognition. Supervisors make unannounced site visits, and the MGP Operations Desk answers 24/7/365. Incidents are documented on scene, time-stamped and GPS-verified.

Puerto Rico Licensing

In Puerto Rico, McCray Global Protection operates under the MGP Hybrid Operating Model. Officers are supplied by vetted local partners who hold the licenses required by the state and local jurisdiction, and MGP manages the program: screening and training standards, supervision, Post Orders, reporting and account management.

How is security guard coverage priced?

Rates depend on the officer classification, hours, schedule and site requirements. MGP provides a written rate schedule after reviewing your needs. Holiday, overnight and short-notice coverage is billed at a premium rate.
