Security Services in Alaska
Anchorage is Alaska’s main retail and commercial center, with Fairbanks and Juneau serving as regional centers for the interior and southeast. The state’s economy relies on energy, air cargo, fishing, government, military installations and a large summer tourism season.
Security Considerations in Alaska
Alaska’s climate requires specific planning. Winter brings long hours of darkness, extreme cold, snow and ice, which affect exterior posts, patrols and travel. Officers need proper cold-weather equipment and warming breaks, and post orders should cover lighting failures, weather-related alarms and road closures. Vehicles used for patrol need winter preparation, and supervisors should confirm officers arrive safely during storms.
Many communities are reachable only by air or sea, and the state is far from the rest of the country. Staffing plans need local depth and backup in each area served. Summer cruise and tour traffic sharply increases activity in port towns and downtown districts from May through September. Seasonal hiring should begin well before the first ships arrive.
Markets Served in Alaska
Coverage also extends to Fairbanks, Juneau, Ketchikan, Wasilla and Kenai Peninsula.
Services Available
Services in Alaska include luxury retail asset protection, retail security officers, concierge and lobby security, commercial building security, special event security, executive protection support and fire watch. Post Orders are written for each location around its layout, hours and risk.
Screening, Training and Supervision
Officers complete a five-stage screening process and tier-based training before assignment, including de-escalation and, for retail posts, organized retail crime recognition. Supervisors make unannounced site visits, and the MGP Operations Desk answers 24/7/365. Incidents are documented on scene, time-stamped and GPS-verified.
Alaska Licensing
In Alaska, McCray Global Protection operates under the MGP Hybrid Operating Model. Officers are supplied by vetted local partners who hold the licenses required by the state and local jurisdiction, and MGP manages the program: screening and training standards, supervision, Post Orders, reporting and account management.
How is security guard coverage priced?
Rates depend on the officer classification, hours, schedule and site requirements. MGP provides a written rate schedule after reviewing your needs. Holiday, overnight and short-notice coverage is billed at a premium rate.
