Manufacturing and Industrial Security
Plants and industrial sites depend on schedules, safety rules and controlled movement of people, trucks and materials. McCray Global Protection (MGP) provides officers who protect production, inventory and people while working inside your site safety program.
Risks Specific to Industrial Sites
Manufacturing and industrial facilities face different losses than offices or stores. Raw materials, finished goods, tooling and scrap metal all have resale value. Large perimeters, multiple shifts and steady contractor and driver traffic create gaps that can be exploited from outside and from within.
Security failures here also carry safety and compliance consequences. An unescorted visitor in a production area, a propped fire door or an unverified trailer seal can lead to injuries, regulatory findings or customer claims that exceed the value of anything stolen.
- Theft of finished goods, raw materials, copper and scrap
- Internal theft and inventory shrink across shifts
- Unauthorized access to production and hazardous areas
- Cargo tampering and fictitious pickups at the dock
- After-hours intrusion during shutdowns and idle periods
Gatehouse, Dock and Access Control
Most industrial programs start at the gate. MGP officers staff the gatehouse and lobby under your access control procedures, verifying employees, contractors, visitors and drivers before they enter.
At shipping and receiving, officers can match driver identification to carrier dispatch, confirm bills of lading and record trailer and container seal numbers against shipping documents. At sites that participate in U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s CTPAT program, officers follow the conveyance inspection and seal procedures in your security plan, including View, Verify, Tug, Twist checks on ISO 17712 high-security seals where your plan calls for them.
- Badge checks, visitor sign-in and contractor credentialing
- Truck and trailer logs with inbound and outbound times
- Seal verification and documentation for each load
- Vehicle and bag inspection where site policy and law allow
- Key control and restricted area management
Patrols and After-Hours Coverage
Officers patrol interior and exterior routes, checking fence lines, doors, docks, yards and laydown areas. Checkpoints, observations and exceptions are recorded in PostControl, MGP’s reporting and post management technology, so plant leadership can confirm rounds were completed and see what was found.
Patrols can include checks your team assigns, such as reporting leaks, alarms, lighting failures or open gates. MGP integrates its officers with your alarm and camera monitoring, whether that is run from your own security operations center or a monitoring partner’s operations center.
Fire Watch and Safety Support
When fire protection systems are impaired or hot work is underway, MGP provides fire watch officers who patrol affected areas, document conditions and notify emergency services and site contacts as needed. Fire watch follows the requirements of your local fire authority and the standards it enforces, such as NFPA 51B for hot work and NFPA 25 for impairments to water-based fire protection systems.
Officers complete your site safety orientation, wear the personal protective equipment your hazard assessment requires and follow applicable OSHA requirements and posted site rules. They support your emergency action plan by assisting with evacuation, taking headcounts at muster points and directing responders on arrival.
Staffing for Plant Operations
MGP staffs industrial sites through its Officer Tier Structure. Tier I Entry-Level and Tier II Experienced officers typically cover gatehouse and patrol posts, while Tier III Retired Law Enforcement officers can be assigned to supervisory roles or sensitive posts. Coverage follows your shift pattern, including nights, weekends and holiday shutdowns.
Manufacturers with several plants can standardize post orders, reporting and service levels through MGP’s multi-site security programs, delivered under the MGP Hybrid Operating Model in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will your officers follow our site safety rules?
Yes. Officers complete your safety orientation, wear required PPE and follow your posted rules and applicable OSHA requirements. Site safety instructions are written into their post orders.
Can your officers manage truck traffic and seal checks?
Yes. Officers can log trucks in and out, verify driver identification and shipping documents, and record seal numbers for inbound and outbound loads under your procedures.
Do you provide fire watch for hot work and system outages?
Yes. MGP provides fire watch officers during fire protection impairments and hot work, following the requirements of your local fire authority.
Can you cover shutdowns and holidays when the plant is idle?
Yes. Reduced staffing during idle periods leaves sites more exposed, so coverage can be added for shutdowns, holidays and maintenance windows with patrol routes adjusted to conditions.
Do you monitor our cameras and alarms?
MGP integrates its officers with your existing monitoring, whether that is your own security operations center or a monitoring partner’s operations center, so alarms and camera alerts lead to an officer response on site.
How is activity reported to plant management?
Gate logs, patrol checkpoints and incidents are captured in PostControl, giving management the same report format on every shift and at every plant.
