Doorman, Lobby Attendant and Concierge Staffing

MGP staffs building lobbies with doormen, lobby attendants and concierges who follow each property’s procedures and service standards. We coordinate with managing agents, facility management providers and building operations teams so the front desk works as part of the building’s daily operation.

Roles We Staff

Front of house roles are hospitality roles first. The person at the door or desk is often the first person a resident, tenant or visitor speaks to.

Each role is defined in writing, with duties, appearance standards and hours set with the managing agent or property manager before staffing begins.

  • Doormen for residential co-ops, condominiums and rental buildings
  • Lobby attendants and front desk staff for Class A office and mixed-use buildings
  • Residential and corporate concierges handling resident and tenant requests
  • Relief, vacation and temporary coverage for existing building staff

Front Desk Operations

Lobby staff handle the routine work that keeps a building orderly: greeting and announcing visitors, verifying guests against resident or tenant lists, issuing visitor credentials, and managing package and delivery intake.

Staff also handle key and fob control, contractor and vendor sign-in, move-in and move-out scheduling, and logging service requests for the maintenance team. Shift activity and incidents are recorded in PostControl so property management can review what happened at the desk.

Coordination With Facility Management and Building Operations

We coordinate with the managing agent, resident manager or superintendent, building engineers and any facility management provider on scope, procedures and escalation.

Front desk staff follow the building’s procedures for maintenance requests, after-hours emergencies, elevator and amenity reservations, and life safety events. Where a building has a Fire Safety Director or an emergency action plan, lobby staff are briefed on their assigned role, including notification and assisting with evacuation as directed.

How This Differs From Concierge Security

Doorman and concierge staffing is a hospitality and building operations service focused on service, visitor management and the daily running of the lobby.

MGP’s concierge security service is the security version of the role, staffed by licensed security officers who provide access control, observation and incident response with a guest-facing presence. Some buildings combine a concierge at the desk with security officers elsewhere in the property. We scope each post so licensing follows duties: where a role includes security functions, it is staffed under the security guard licensing requirements of that state.

Selection and Training

Front of house staff are selected for presentation, communication and judgment, and are screened before placement. Training covers the building’s procedures, resident and tenant privacy, visitor and package handling, de-escalation and emergency procedures.

We coordinate with the managing agent on how MGP staff work alongside existing building employees, including shift handoffs and reporting lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a doorman and a concierge security officer?

A doorman or lobby attendant is a hospitality and building operations role focused on service, visitors and packages. A concierge security officer is a licensed security officer who provides access control and incident response with a guest-facing manner. MGP offers both and will recommend the right fit for each post.

Can MGP provide relief or temporary coverage for our existing doormen?

Yes. We provide coverage for vacations, leaves and vacancies, as well as permanent staffing, based on the building’s procedures and post requirements.

Do your staff work with our managing agent or facility management provider?

Yes. Lobby staff follow the building’s procedures and escalation paths, and we coordinate scope and changes with the managing agent, resident manager or facility management provider.

How do you handle package and visitor management?

Staff follow the building’s written procedures for announcing and verifying visitors, issuing credentials, and logging package intake and release. Activity is recorded in PostControl for management review.

Do you staff commercial office lobbies as well as residential buildings?

Yes. We staff residential co-ops, condominiums and rental buildings, as well as office and mixed-use lobbies, with duties tailored to each property.
